What decides the price of a moissanite ring?
1. Metal: silver vs gold
This is the biggest factor. In 925 sterling silver, even a large moissanite ring stays affordable. In 9K, 14K or 18K gold, you pay for the gold by weight at that day's rate, which can multiply the price three to four times. Read 9K vs 14K vs 18K gold to choose.
2. Carat size
Unlike diamonds, moissanite prices do not jump steeply with size. A 4 or 5 carat moissanite is still within reach, which is why many customers choose a bigger stone than they could ever afford in diamond.
3. Cut
Round, oval, pear and radiant are standard. Special cuts like Portuguese cut and old mine cut take more cutting work and add character and sparkle.
4. Colour and clarity
Good moissanite is graded like diamond. We use D to F colour and VVS or flawless clarity, so you do not see yellow tints or inclusions. Coloured moissanite (pink, blue, green) is priced in a similar range.
5. Setting and side stones
A plain solitaire costs least. Halos, pavé bands, three stone designs and hidden halos add more stones and more labour.
6. Certificate
A GRA or INGEMCO certificate confirms the stone and its grades. Be careful with very cheap listings that have no certificate; the stone quality is often unknown.

- Check the metal: is it 925 sterling silver or hallmarked gold, or just plated brass?
- Ask for the certificate and the colour and clarity grade.
- Compare like with like: same carat, cut and metal.
